Why is newborn baby, family and kids photography better at home?
Home is the natural backdrop in front of which all family life is played out.
It is where you will experience belly aching laughs and where you feel safe enough to cry. It’s where you go when you want to retreat. It’s where you raise your family and make memories that will stay with them forever.
Home is where you take your newborn baby in their first weeks so you can keep them safe.
It is natural that you would want to keep your baby comfortable at home so that during your in home newborn baby photography session you can take breaks for feeding, changing nappies and rests.
We all love to personalise our homes with our own style - splashes of colour, textures and furniture, but there is still no better way to seperate the ‘inside’ from the ‘outside’ than with photos of our loved ones and reminders of significant moments in our life. We feel free to express ourselves at home.
Surely, it makes sense for this to be the place where you will want to create and capture your most precious family moments.
When we at Grain & Weave started visiting families around Sydney back in 2016, we saw very quickly that the kids, pets and the parents are more relaxed at home, and because they feel much more comfortable in their own environment, we were able to easily create natural-looking portraits that just feel better.
Using items around the house and naturally incorporating colours from around the home, we found that portraits organically took on a more personalised look, without feeling forced. Being invited to spend time with a family in their own space gave us the opportunity to quickly learn what their style preferences were. Designing images that were made to suit a family’s style in their home just made sense.

We have helped hundreds of very happy families all over Sydney capture their most important milestones beautifully and enabled them to display these memories around the home in any way they chose to - either self-printed, or often tempted by one of our beautifully unique, handmade wall-art pieces.
We are very lucky in that we usually meet people at a significant, celebratory moment in their lives. It is usually one that they want to preserve and remember. Creating an experience that is an extension of that moment and maybe enhancing the memory is where our comfort zone is.
